Bio
Kolby Hunt is a creative technologist and emerging media artist whose work blends filmmaking, fabrication, and interactive storytelling. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Emerging Media Arts at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, focusing on interactive and immersive experiences. His practice brings together hands-on making and narrative experimentation, ranging from short films and documentary-style pieces to wearable builds, large-scale sculptures, and GPS-based interactive stories.
Kolby’s recent projects include a choose-your-own-adventure film experience built in Google Sheets, a functional Doc Ock–inspired mechanical suit, a sculpted illuminated bean stalk created for an immersive installation, and Passengers, a short documentary made during a 72-hour film festival in London. His work often mixes humor, curiosity, and technical problem-solving, showing a consistent interest in how story and experience can connect through physical and digital space.
In 2024, Kolby participated in Story Abroad, studying immersive and emerging media practices in London through visits to studios such as Punchdrunk, Visualskies, ABBA Voyage, and Central Saint Martins. He has also worked as a production assistant, community assistant, and technical support intern, roles that continue to shape his approach as an adaptable, detail-oriented maker. He is a recipient of the Nebraska Young Artist Award and has exhibited work in Artists for Climate.
