Remote Correspondent

For a history class project, I turned a traditional video essay into an on-location news report filmed during a spring break trip through Chicago, Niagara Falls, and Toronto. Before leaving, I planned the script around each destination, assigning sections and lines to locations I would only have one chance to film.

The final section cuts back and forth between the different locations, turning each version of myself into a correspondent seemingly participating in the same conversation across hundreds of miles. I wrote, filmed, presented, and edited the entire piece, using the trip as an opportunity to make a standard research assignment feel more like a coordinated field report.
